1 To recall sections from a non-chronological report Introduce text features and the unit’s theme joining a mission to Mars (Scene 01).
 Read through the Introduction and Terrain sections of a non-chronological report discussing our journey to Mars (Scene 02), the planet itself, its discovery and our first footsteps on the planet (Scene 03). Model memorising and recalling report maps using actions and expression. Learners work in groups to read, memorise and recall report maps and create presentions. Present sections using report maps.

2 To recall sections from a non-chronological report Present the Introduction and Terrain sections as a class. Read through the Atmosphere and Climate sections of the non-chronological report. Model memorising and recalling report maps using actions and expression.
 Learners work in groups to read, memorise and recall report maps and create presentions. Present sections using report maps.
Day LO Starter Main Activity Plenary
3 To group non-chronological information Present the Atmosphere and Climate sections as a class. We encounter an alien on Mars (Scene 04) and escape to return to Earth. Our journey is interrupted by a transmission (Scene 05). Model creating grouped notes on the transmission to present to mission control back at home.

5 To recall sections from a non-chronological report Present the Introduction and Terrain sections as a class or in groups. Read through the third part of the non-chronological report discussing life on Mars. Read Martian descriptions re-watching Scene 04. Model memorising and recalling the descriptions using report maps with actions and expression.
 Learners work in groups to read, memorise and recall report maps and create presentions. Present descriptions using report maps.
